I’ve decided to make this a once a month feature. Without further ado, here are six more books on the never-ending TBR of doom! I used a random number generator to pick these off the list.
She Drives Me Crazy Kelly Quindlen
This book actually isn’t coming out until April, nor has it been sitting on my TBR for particularly long. That’s a nice change from what’s usually in these posts! When I saw this was a wlw enemies-to-lovers, faking dating story, I knew I had to read it. That’s three things I enjoy combined! It sounds like it will be a lot of fun, and I’m looking forward to it.
Princess of Thorns by Stacey Jay
On the other hand, this “Sleeping Beauty” retelling has been on my TBR for ages. It focuses on Sleeping Beauty’s daughter and deals with the usually forgotten second half of the fairy tale. I definitely want to read this and write a Fairy Tale Friday post on it. It’s very rare to find a retelling that includes the second part of “Sleeping Beauty.” I just haven’t had a chance to buy it or even borrow it from a library.
If I Had Your Face by Frances Cha
One of my favorite BookTubers focuses on Japanese and Korean literature, and she talked about this in one of her videos. I want to expand my reading since I generally pick up American and British books, and If I Had Your Face seems like it would be a good place for me to start. It centers around womanhood and beauty standards, which are themes I enjoy exploring.
Goblin Fruit by S. E. Burr
This is another fairly recent addition, and it actually a bit outside the genres I usually read. I tend to not be interested stories that deal with dystopias or zombies. But this one is based off Christina Rossetti’s poem “The Goblin Market,” which I love. So I want to see how this is. Plus it’s only 99 cents on Kindle.
The Paper Chase by John J. Osborn Jr.
One of my favorite bloggers recommended this ages ago, and it’s been on my TBR since. It’s a campus novel focused on a young man in law school. I love campus novels, and it’s nice to see one about graduate students since they are often about undergrads. The summary also promises a professor “who asks not just for the student’s mind, but for his soul.” And if that doesn’t sound exciting and ominous, then I don’t know what does.
Come When I Call You by Shayna Krishnasamy
This just came out last year. I requested an ARC but didn’t get it, which I was quite disappointed about. It’s a Gothic novel set at a boarding school, so sign me up! Although now I’m scrolling through reviews and getting a bit nervous. I’ve never read the author, so I wasn’t planning to buy it anyway. But if I chance to get it out of the library, I certainly will.
