June & July Wrap Up

June

The Raven King by Nora Sakavic – 5 stars I reread The Foxhole Court last year and decided to reread the rest of the trilogy. It’s one of my favorite series, and I had a wonderful time.

Luster by Raven Leilani – 4 stars A fantastic contemporary novel dealing with black womanhood in the United States. I listened to the audiobook, which was excellent. Full Review

The King’s Men by Nora Sakavic – 5 stars The finale of the All for the Game series, and the best one in the series, if you ask me. It was just as good the fifth or sixth time as it was the first.

July

My Sister, the Serial Killer by Oyinkan Braithwaite – 4 stars A Nigerian thriller that follows a conflicted narrator whose younger sister has killed three men. This book is so much fun, and the audiobook is fantastic. Full Review

Gold Spun by Brandie June – 4 stars This is a YA retelling of “Rumpelstiltskin” featuring a relatable and likeable protagonist who has all the agency and personality the original miller’s daughter lacks. And the author has some great twists on the old tale! Full Review
